I linked to some of these photos yesterday, before we got access to the full set. Brad Pitt and Marion Cotillard are currently in England filming a World War II-era film together. They’re playing a married couple in 1942. Brad plays an American (?) spy “who falls in love and marries a French agent during a dangerous North African mission.” I’m assuming the dangerous North African mission is the backstory, because in these photos, we see Brad and Marion as a married couple with an absolutely adorable child.
This film is called Five Seconds of Silence, which… is not a good movie title. Maybe it’s some sort of WWII reference, like something about air raids or espionage. This film actually has a pretty decent pedigree, meaning it’s not one of Brad’s off-the-wall art projects. Robert Zemeckis is the director, and Oscar-nominated screenwriter Steven Knight did the script. The film is being set for a November release, so maybe there’s a shot at an Oscar campaign or something. Here’s the plot of the film, via Coming Soon:
Five Seconds of Silence follows Max Vatan (Pitt) and Marianne Beausejour (Cotillard), two assassins who fall in love during a mission in Casablanca in 1942 to kill a German ambassador. A future together, however, is thrown into tumult when twisty secrets from their pasts cast doubts on their love for each other.
Blah. I mean… I get a little bit tired of WWII films, although there hasn’t been enough of an effort to recognize the women of clandestine services. So I’m happy that Marion is playing a spy and an assassin, just like Brad.
As for Brad and this baby… I get the feeling that he loves babies. He might even want to have another one. And he looks really good in that blue uniform. He honestly looks good in all of these photos – in the pics where he’s wearing a hat, he looks like Robert Redford in The Natural.
